Compassionate Conservatism ... Gotta Love It

In Omaha to pick his social security privatization to the public (and try to pressure Senator Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) into voting for it), Bush had this exchange with a single mother. From The Washington Post and Eschaton:
_
In Omaha on Friday, a divorced single mother named Mary Mornin tells the president, "I have one child, Robbie, who is mentally challenged, and I have two daughters."

"Fantastic," the president exclaims, and he tells her she has "the hardest job in America, being a single mom."

Later, the 57-year old Mornin tells Bush that she works three jobs, which the president deems "uniquely American" and "fantastic." He asks her if she gets any sleep.
_
What the fuck is wrong with this man? We should remember, in the future, not to elect presidents who enjoy making fun of single moms. The only reason Mornin's sad story is "uniquely American" is because Bush has policies that are destructive to single mothers. I am honestly worried that when he said "Fantastic" he really meant it. Why should we have to analyze the fucked up things presidents say to single moms?
