Barack Obama Visits Austin

On Thursday, Democratic star and, barring an Alan Keyes' miracle, the next Senator from the state of Illinois, Barack Obama, came to Austin to raise money for his already loaded (over $10 million) campaign. Obama made appearances at two events hosted in his honor. One was at the Four Seasons Hotel, the other was at former Texas Land Commissioner and 1998 Democratic nominee for Governor Garry Mauro's house. The Mauro event was attended by more than 700 people. That is an amazing acheivement, and all those involved deserve to be recognized for the great attendance. But, the truth is, we could use the money here in Austin. Glen Maxey, former state Rep and Dean for Texas State Coordinator, is running the Travis County Coordinated Campaign. There calling it Austin for Change, and the website is up and running. You can contribute money or volunteer to phone bank, blockwalk, etc, all on the website: www.austinforchange.com.
