Catching Up . . .

Well, it has been a long time. I've been traveling a lot so there hasn't been much time to post, but that will all change soon. For now, here's some catching up I've been meaning to do.

Fundraising Totals: Democrats are looking great in Texas, at both the state and federal levels. State House Democratic candidates have outraised their GOP counterparts as a whole, and candidates like Max Sandlin continue to do well. If we're going to make gains, we will need to continue this edge. At the State House level, Austin area candidates Patrick Rose (one term incumbent from Dripping Springs) and Mark Strama (former Director of Rock the Vote and Rodney Ellis Cheif of Staff) were among the top fundraisers.

The Edwards Effect: Is North Carolina now a swing state? Maybe, maybe not. In the end, the only way Bush will not win N.C. is if it is a Kerry tidal wave coinciding with a Democratic takeover of Congress. While this could happen, it is not very likely. My current prediction - Kerry beats Bush, Dems take Senate, Dems pick up a few seats in House but GOP retains control.

ActBLUE - "Candidates For A Better Texas" : I have created a group of candidates at the new website ActBLUE. The title of the group is "Candidates for a Better Texas", and it includes many of our top congressional candidates. I encourage you to give generously to these candidates and to keep your political money in the Lone Star State this fall.

Radnofsky for Senate? : Barbara Ann Radnofsky, a Houston lawyer, formed an exploratory committee for the U.S. Senate in 2006 in the past months, and has now launched a website.

"Last Man Standing": Paul Stekler's wonderful documentary about the 2002 state rep race between Patrick Rose and Rick Green is showing on PBS this week. Check local listings.

And lastly . . .

TEXAS TUESDAYS: Today's candidate is Jim Daughtery. Jim is running against GOP incumbent Martha Wong in District 134. Visit Texas Tuesdays and support Jim and his fellow Democratic candidates for the state legislature.

Thats it for now. I promise updating will be back to normal as of now. If you would like to advertise on BlogAds, please contact me -- I am giving away free space for Democratic candidates.
