SD Special Election Down To The Wire . . . But It Looks Good For Herseth

First off, here is the link to live results from the SD Secretary of State's office: results.

Here is the results, with 703 of 798 precints reporting:
U S HOUSE
(R) DIEDRICH LARRY 109141 49 703 798
(D) HERSETH STEPHANIE 113175 51 703 798

Herseth is holding on to a 4,000 vote margin. She's held the lead almost all of the night. The race is not ready to be called in her favor yet, but it is getting close. Still, I am somewhat dissapointed about her performance after Diedrich's comments yesterday (see posting below).

Apparently his strategy of lowering the expectations worked. No matter what happens tonight, expect a rematch in November. The problem with a close race though is that it gives the RNC is a legitimate reason to pump a lot of $$$ into the race, a reason they would not have had if Herseth could have with a double digit lead.

However, though it is looking pretty good right now, this RACE IS NOT OVER. Stay tuned . . .
