Some Worthy Democrats To Give $$$

If you live in the Austin area, you are in luck, because we have a lot of competitive races this year. Today, I will take a look at three State House races that will keep local Democrats (and GOPers, too) hands full all the way until Election Day.

In HD50, Mark Strama looks to knock off a champion of the re-redistricting Jack Stick. Strama is high qualified, having served as Executive Director of Rock The Vote, as well as Cheif of Staff for Houston state Senator Rodney Ellis. Strama also worked for Ann Richards' first gubernatorial campaign.

In HD48, former Safe Place Executive Director Kelly White is taking on another one of the Austin reps who voted FOR redistricting. This time, its one term (and let's keep it that way) Republican Todd Baxter. White is running a strong campaign, and she could easily pull an upset in her Westlake and Northwest Austin district.

Finally, in HD45, incumbent Democrat Patrick Rose is attempting to keep his seat safe from Republican Alan Askew. Rose is a rising star in our party, and we need him in Austin come January. He is capable of winning tough races, as we saw in his 2002 campaign against incumbent Rick Green. He needs the money though.
